Landscape trailers are purpose-built open-deck utility trailers designed for the demands of the landscaping and grounds-maintenance trade. Their defining features — tall mesh or expanded-metal side panels and a full-width rear ramp gate — let you wheel commercial zero-turn mowers, walk-behinds, blowers, and trimmers on and off without lifting, while the high sides retain bulk loads of mulch, soil, grass clippings, and yard debris on the trip back from the job site. Most landscape trailers are built on a powder-coated or hot-dipped galvanized steel frame, with tandem 3,500-pound axles becoming standard once you cross the 14-foot length mark. Decking choices include pressure-treated 2x8 wood, steel diamond plate, or composite — each balancing weight, traction, and longevity differently. Standard equipment typically includes LED clearance and brake lights, sealed wiring harness, breakaway brakes on tandem-axle models, a swing-up jack with caster wheel, multiple D-ring or stake-pocket tie-downs, and a 2-inch or 2-5/16-inch coupler. Common upgrades that crews regularly add include a removable side ramp gate for curbside loading, a tongue-mounted toolbox for trimmer line and small parts, a fold-down side gate, an extended tongue for longer equipment, a spare-tire mount, and gas-can or trimmer racks on the front bulkhead.
